Security

Security is a main concern with any organization. Cavern Technologies subterranean facility was designed specifically with our customer’s security in mind. Being located approximately 125 feet underground provides our facility with several structural advantages over our competition. Our security model is based on a 3-tier approach. First tier is public access to the facility where we have two main entrances, both manned by security personnel 24/7. Second tier is common area data center access where authorized personnel must pass through our security system controlled doors and monitored by surveillance. Third tier security is customized to the specifications of the client and their requirements for their area. Cavern Technologies can provide any security needs required, but also allows the client to arrange third-party security solutions. Physical security coupled with our fire suppression, environmental control, and video surveillance in all areas of the facility provide our customers with the piece of mind and the security they require.

Why Stay Local?

In the past, when recovery meant a mainframe in a hot site, it was easier to assume that a few operators could make the trip to a remote site. However, when dealing with workgroup recovery, the logistics of such a move become highly complicated. Your employees are people first – they have families, homes and obligations outside of your organization. Asking them to get on an airplane within 24 hours of a catastrophic occurrence, for an unspecified amount of time, can be an impossible task. Unfortunately, you have to assume that a disaster may have caused injury or damage to property of personnel or their families and those situations could take precedence over your recovery.

Why Underground?

Located approximately 125 feet underground Cavern / Meritex provides a constant ambient temperature of 65 degrees 365 days of the year. Being underground your disaster recovery location is not subject to storms, fires, floods, civil disorders or other natural disasters that can affect an aboveground facility. Security is a snap because there just are not that many doors or windows in a cavern. Visitors are welcome only with an appointment and employee escort. Your data and alternate site will be highly secure at our facility. 12+ foot ceiling height provides opportunities for tiered sections. Also, parking is available above ground or below.

We are the only provider in the Kansas City area that provides 100% dedicated underground space for Alternative Processing and Hardened Disaster Recovery, business continuity, managed services and secure tape and records storage. All client data and workgroup recovery Facilities are equipped with motion and intrusion detection systems. During after-hours, the facility is guarded by security personnel, who check and verify the visitors’ purpose and authorization.
